Raided 9-Year-Old Pirate Bay Girl Came To Save Us All

TorrentFreak: This week, at the behest of an anti-piracy group, police executed a search warrant against an alleged file-sharer. Not only did the police feel it was measured and appropriate to take action against an individual who downloaded a single album worth a few euros, but even carried on once they knew their target was a 9-year-old child. Of course there has been outcry, but let’s look at this from a different angle for a moment. Isn’t this some of the best news all year?

I hope they put her away for a long, long time with a prisoner that calls herself "Big Daddy"

Corporations are people my friend. /Mitt Romney

nukeitall4158d ago

It's not the corporation that carries out these acts, it's the people running it my friend!

Can't wait to see a recreation of the raid like with the Kim.com trial

To serve and protect... the corporations.

Bwahahahha! I can't wait to see the backlash.

She even owned a purchased CD of the downloaded song WTF man.. I like the way they dont go after rapists or catch criminal minds.. But go after little girls.. Literally!!!

Bottomline, the girl committed a crime and she should paid the thousands of dollars worth of fine.

Sorry, anti-piracy measures are mostly retorted.

pirate bay has over 5 million registered users -if im not mistaken you don't have to be registered to use it. imagine how many more have used just this one site not taking into account all the other file sharing site out there- and you are telling me that it is appropriate for police all around the world to raid the houses of everyone that has used the site? and to fine them thousands of dollars for downloading something that costs much less while spending even more money to raid the house in the first place? now, i am not a genius but wouldn't the normal and logical way to deal with the situation is to attack the core of the problem that is the website rather than attacking the person using the services this website provides?

if anyone's house is gonna be raided then it should be the house belonging to the person who uploaded the file rather than the one who is downloading it. these arn't anit-piracy measures as it does not affect the pirate the ones who upload the stuff but it affects the people who download it and the people who provide the service.

"if anyone's house is gonna be raided then it should be the house belonging to the person who uploaded the file rather than the one who is downloading it."

No. That's just silly. Take this example: A library lets you sign out books, if the person signs out the book and photo copies the entire book should the library be at fault?

The person in this case child did break the law. When you steal and are caught be prepared for the repercussions.

The father received a letter stating that someone had downloaded an album illegally and ignored the fine.

That being said, I do not agree with how they raided the house for one album. They should've just sent him another letter and if they have some kind of credit rating make it go against them.

Musicians earn too much in the first place and should earn most of their money from live performances (spotify works well here for home consumption). Movies and tv series should be available for a reasonable price on services such as Netflix. Video games piracy deserves to be heavily punished as it indeed wrecks apart the industry and prices are already low (steam sales).

Just to be clear, no one should be defending the little girls actions. This should not be interpreted as a call to pirate. It should only be a call to condemn disproportionate punishment.
