windows 8 is just windows 7 but people are too stupid to get it.

Microsoft will make some changes for the mainstream office use eventually. but I'm sure they would pick 7 over 8 for an office environment.

but it is catching on somewhere, New York is plastered with ads, and commercials every hour... and almost every laptop coming out in the mainstream stores are coming with stock windows 8 now.

come January we will see the new numbers.

Which is extremely annoying for me or anyone else who is looking to buy a new laptop but isn't interested AT ALL in the new Windows 8.

I'll have to look at what my options are, but I really hope it's possible to just get a free downgrade back to Windows 7 if I pick up a newer laptop.

Why would they care. Did they ever care? PC sales are declining, as mobile grows. we should expect to see less windows 8 growth. Honestly, there is no reason to upgrade your computer. the metro interface is designed for touch screens, just complicating normal PC operations. In alot of ways, it was a major step forward for their mobile products, but a leap backward for the desktop/laptop.

Microsoft should be pushing their Surface harder at a cheaper price point. This WILL be their holiday product, like it or not. people give iPads, not laptops for Christmas these days.

Its exactly why I want a new dog on the block. OSX and Windows are taking the PC OS in the wrong direction.
