I believe that thing about supply shortage is BS. I'm sure that if the demand was really greater than the supply then they would be happy to share a sales figure or even give a rough estimate cause nothing gains customer and developer confidence more than to hear that it sold millions since launch.
It has very little apps available which may leave the customer eventually feeling like they might have just purchased an expensive toy and they also might have made some developers shy away from the platform due to low install base and slow growth.
