I think this is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The moment where he opened the door and you see space is incredible. That and when he fell out. I have a fear of heights, I would have crapped my pants man. This man has my respect. Very cool

there's no gravity in space unless there's a rotating mass or a black hole near by.
the earths gravity pulls things toward it when they are close enough.
once he hits a certain point the earths gravity will come into play like it should.

also he jumps from his carrier towards the earth. his forward motion in space is sending him towards the earth until the gravity takes hold accelerating him to unhuman like speeds.

if he jumped away from earth and used thrusters or something he would float away into free space
because if your upward force beats gravity then you go up.
