GSMArena - Huawei is the latest manufacturer to join in the phablet race and it sets its sights on the Galaxy Note II, Oppo Find 5, Optimus Vu and the Pantech Vega R3. The company just unveiled the Ascend D2 and it's been showcased in China and promised to bring it to the (local) market in early 2013.
Engadget - It's only been about a week since the Ascend D2's official debut at CES, but according to Huawei's latest announcement on Sina Weibo, the manufacturer will already be offering its unsubsidized 5-inch 1080p flagship at its online store right after 5pm local time tomorrow.

The 5-inch IPS display gives you a full-HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, resulting in a sharp 443ppi. It's protected by Corning Gorilla glass, so should be safe from scratches, but the phone also carries an IPX 5/4 rating, so it's also dust and water resistant.
